starting from scratch.

Since we just established the homestead in 2023, we have found very creative ways to save money and build animal housing. The Alaskan winters can be hard, and we like to make sure our animals are comfortable and safe. We have discovered some very useful ways to turn waste feed bags and into washable wallpaper, pallets into housing and many other items that can be upcycled.

We also work closely with a local farm animal rescue which are always needing to find new homes. So, once we help with the building of animal housing for affordable price we can also help you find the critters to fill you yard with fun and food!

Educational opportunities in Animal Husbandry

Hali Holt, the owner has many years of experience in animal husbandry from equestrian work, to breeding livestock. We enjoy sharing the knowledge we have accumulated over the years to bring these sometimes-overwhelming hurdles to manageable systems to help others achieve their goals.

Equine specific education is offered as our very own Heartfelt Horsemanship program. Based on a combination of natural horsemanship, and Perellis program and Hali’s heartfelt years of experience this program specializes in liberty work, driving, and ranch style riding in western tack. These skills are not show or rodeo focused but will only help to create an eager to please relationship with you equine companion.

Volunteering

We also work with volunteer programs like WWOOF and other non-profit organizations to offer access to all the knowledge of interest to a hardworking individual. Some programs offer housing with longer stays and food from the homestead. Other volunteer opportunities for locals are day to day and event and training based. We like to provide access to all the information we can share to those individuals interested in stating the homesteading journey or just looking to become more sustainable and living with a positive impact on the environment around them.
